Discussion Question #2

First, I would like to welcome my daughter Mya Elizabeth to the world, born July 24th @3:41pm. It has been a little crazy lately.
So, from here on out I will updating every few days. I am happy to see so much interaction between the bloggers. On top of that, most of the post have been in depth with plenty of deep analysis. For some, you need to do that, discuss the question, use another angle than what someone else wrote and make sure what ever you write is correct. Another note, once again, please use a blog name that I can give you credit what you write This is intended for the students have done this.
Please use the opportunity of sitting with Ms. Stollwerk at a coffee house discussion: she will be on Tuesday, July 29th, 5-7 pm - Starbucks on the SW corner of 87th and Lexington. Take the 4,5, or 6 subway line to 86th street. Go out theNE corner (assuming you are coming from the Bronx) and to the western side of Lexington. You will see the starbucks next to the Staples and Barnes and Noble.
Question #2:
How are Polynesian Islands "an experiment of history"? What conclusions does Diamond draw from their history?

Discussion #1

Sorry for the delay. Wanted to give everyone amble time to get in depth with the reading. I will be in Manhattan all week if anyone needs to meet in person for any reason. I am happy to see so many of the students engaged, even if it is just a little. Let anyone know that has not already signed up to do so and make sure you are staying on top of your reading.

Engage in the following question: Why do you think Diamond hypothesized that New Guineans might be , on the average , "smarter" than Westerners?

Confusion

  1. If you are having trouble commenting, do the following: at the bottom right of the post I put up, it says comments (#); click on that and it will bring you to where you can create a user name on the lower right. Let me know if you have any other problems.

  2. The blog is going to be used to discuss topics and answer questions from the book. This will enable us to actively have conversations about the book throughout the summer.

  3. I will post comments or questions weekly throughtout the summer starting June 30th-August 25th. Each student is required to post at least 4, meaningful & lenghty, comments. Therefore, if you are unable to post one a particular week because you are vactioning off in France or at a beach house in the Hamptons, then you may the following week.

  4. When posting a comment it has to be in regular or normal English language, NOT IM OR INSTANT MESSAGE OR TEXT MESSAGE LANGUAGE. NO EXCEPTATIONS...........
