As the summer comes to an end, I hope it went well for everyone and you are much rested for the great year to come. There will be only a few discussion questions for people to answer. As I have said in a post, you may use one of these discussion questions for your two papers that you need to write. In addition, answering three of the objectives that must be meet in order to be in this class.

Discussion Question #3

Hello Everyone,
I hope your summer is going well, I know mine is. Make sure you are staying on top of your reading and start writing those thesis statements for each chapter. Your thesis statements should be around two-three sentences, no more, and try to explain what the entire chapter is about. In your own words you are explaining what Diamond is trying to prove each chapter. Any questions about that please email me or post them. In addition, start writing your summary papers for two of the discussion question, which were posted by one of your fellow classmates, in case they are not in the back of your book. Those papers need to be 2-3 pages each. Lastly, I somewhat surprised that some students still have not posted. Therefore, if you do talk to some that have not, through whichever mode of communication, let them know they are coming down to the wire and they do not want this to determine whether they make the final roster of the class.

Discussion #3: What were the advantages enjoyed by the Fertile Crescent that allowed it to be the earliest site of the development for most of the building blocks of civilization? How does Diamond explain the fact that it was nevertheless Europe and not Southwest Asia that ended up spreading its culture to the rest of the world.
